AI Engineer
Group Monument aims to deploy artificial intelligence in a structured, secure and targeted manner to support and optimise business processes. AI is viewed as a strategic tool in this context, with a focus on governance, quality, security and adoption by staff.
As an AI Engineer, you will play an active role in shaping this vision. You are a hands-on technical professional who turns ideas into smart, effective solutions that drive processes forward and empower colleagues in their work.
Your role:
You will programme and build AI solutions yourself. You will write code, work with APIs, data and automation, and investigate how systems and applications can work together intelligently. You will translate this into a well-thought-out technical and functional implementation, featuring targeted prompts, decision logic, AI agents and workflows.
Together with the Quality Manager and the process owners, you will identify relevant AI use cases across a wide range of areas (from estimation, execution, workshops, quality and safety to administration, IT, HR and finance) and translate these needs into concrete technical solutions.
You will develop proof-of-concepts and pilot schemes, test them in practice and roll out successful solutions to the shop floor in a stable manner. In doing so, you will document the technical choices, architecture and configurations.
You ensure that AI solutions are properly integrated into the existing IT environment, with a focus on security, data availability and smooth operation. At the same time, you oversee governance and quality: you help draw up guidelines for the responsible use of AI and ensure that the applications align with existing processes and audit requirements.
You will actively bring AI closer to the organisation. You will raise awareness of AI, help Group Monument’s AI maturity to grow and translate ambitions and needs into a concrete training plan. You will guide staff in the safe, correct and responsible use of AI applications and use feedback and results to continuously improve solutions.
Your profile
You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, Engineering or have equivalent experience.
You are able to programme yourself and have demonstrable, hands-on experience in developing, building and implementing applications (from concept to working solution). You analyse technical issues independently, devise solutions and actually build them yourself.
You have experience in setting up and implementing AI solutions, or you can demonstrate that you can quickly and independently apply new AI technologies in practice.
You have a good understanding of:
generative AI, LLMs and the key concepts surrounding them;
data models and data sources;
automation and integrations, such as low-code platforms and workflow tools.
You have an understanding of AI risks, the GDPR, information security and the responsible use of AI.
Knowledge of or an affinity with the EU AI Act and AI governance is an advantage.
Experience with Microsoft 365, cloud platforms or business applications is an advantage.
You have strong communication skills and can clearly explain technical solutions to non-technical colleagues.
You work independently, critically and responsibly. Integrity and discretion are a given.
You are a Dutch speaker, but you also speak French fluently.
You will be based at our office in Zottegem and will form part of the IT team.
